Last month our friends had their first baby which was a great excuse for me to make a pair of Saartje’s baby bootees. They should have reached their destination by now so I have posted a picture, I hope they like them.

I really love this pattern, if you haven’t seen it before you should take a look at the pattern on Ravelry. Also see the completed projects, i’m sure you will be inspired to start your own.
I am working on a couple of my unfinished sweater projects at the moment so I thought I would share their progress with you.
Pioneer Sweater
I love the colours in this wool, they match my needles prefectly! It’s called King Cole Mirage (shade 870). You can see it here in my stash on Ravelry. When I saw it in the shop and I had no idea what I would make with it but I had to buy it anyway. I decided to make this V-neck sweater, it is published on Knitty but I actually came across it on Ravelry.

Sirdar Firefly Sweater
The pattern and yarn for this project was brought for me by my nan and as the weather is warming up here in Baku I thought I would cast on.

This week a few of us wandered around the local neighbourhood and spent the afternoon taking pictures.

We got many curious looks from the local community. The majority of people thought we were media, I guess they don’t see many people taking pictures just because they like taking them.

Spring is definitely on the way!

The fruit and vegetable stands are already starting to sell some of my favourite spring/summer fruits. I brought a pineapple the other day that was so juicy and delicious I ate the whole thing to myself!

I want to come back here at night and take a picture of this fountain when it is aglow with colourful lights.

The remains of years past.

Sheep grazing in the local park. I tried to forget that they will soon be sold for slaughter.

I really like the city mosques, the stone work is so ornate and make a great picture against the backdrop of modern skyscrapers.

And lastly, my day of picture taking wouldn’t be complete without a photo of one of the many neighbourhood cats!

Here are some pictures of my finished Hemlock Ring Throw.

Since blocking it I have noticed a few mistakes but they are not too obvious so it’s OK. It is also bit ripply in places which seems to be a common comment for this pattern on Ravelry but again “pah!”.

Overall, i’m really pleased with how it’s turned out. The pattern is just sooo pretty.

I have enough of this yarn left to make another one too!
It’s finished!
I was determined to finish it and not let it get added to my pile of unfinished projects so with a massive drive during the first race of the Formula 1 season this weekend I managed to complete it.
Here it is pre wash…

Then pinned out on the bed to block…

More pictures once it has finished drying!
